Things to do in The Baltics during Spring 2020

It is almost Spring season in The Baltics. The sun is shining brighter, days are getting longer, replacing much colder and darker winter even though this year being record warm. This is a great time to visit The Baltics before all the summer visitors arrive. Having that said, we have prepared a few things we recommend to do in The Baltics during Spring 2020.

1. Kaziukas fair (Vilnius, Lithuania)

Kaziukas Fair traditionally happens annually on the weekend closest to Saint Casimir‘s Day (4th of March). This year it will take place from 6th to 8th March, 2020. Featuring finest folk artisans and craftsmen, music and dance, the event occupies the Old Town streets in the heart of Vilnius, Lithuania.

We recommend the fair to get acquainted Lithuanian traditions, taste various homemade dishes and find some souvenirs from wood, ceramic or wickerwork that catch your eye.

2. Riga Restaurant week ( Riga, Latvia)

During one week, this year from 23.03.2020 to 29.03.2020, Riga's finest restaurants open their doors to everyone wanting to experience amazing flavors for a special price of around 15 to 20 EUR for a three course meal. This is a perfect chance to taste some exceptional foods for affordable prices. If you happen to miss Riga Restaurant week during Spring, there is another one in Autumn.

3. Annual Latvian craft fair (Riga, Latvia)

Similar to Kaziukas fair, the annual Latvian craft fair hosts hundreds of craftsmen from all over the country selling their goods together with live folk music, dancing and plenty of traditional food and drinks. The fair takes place in Latvian Ethnographic Museum which is a place of nearly 90 hectares of historic villages, churches, windmills, farms and other objects that have been moved there from their original locations to be preserved in one place.

The craft fair has been first held in 1971, this year making it the 50th Annual Latvian craft fair, happening on the weekend of 6th and 7th of June, 2020.

4. Jazzkaar Music Festival (Tallin, Estonia)

Featuring 50 concerts over 10 days, from 16th to 27th April, 2020, a jazz music festival takes place in Tallin, Estonia. It is considered to be the biggest jazz event in The Baltics. Established in 1990, this also marks a special anniversary, being the 30th Jazzkaar. Thousands of artists from over 60 countries have performed in the festival. Two main event venues are Creative Hub of Tallinn and Alexa Kontserdimaja hosting both upcoming and established stars. Tickets are available starting from 20 EUR.
